Last night I had a dream that was peculiar and strange. What I remember the most was that I was wearing my security uniform throughout most of the dream. I was traveling from a house to businesses and trying to find a place to meet with people and engage with them. At first I was at a house that I have never been to before, but now that I think about it I was on my home town, so it must have been a location that I’ve passed a dozen times and never noticed. In this house I saw some people I know from my university and when I asked them what they were doing, they said they were on the verge of going to a new destination, and they were gone. Not thinking anything of it, I left the house and walked up the street where I went to a local bodega and I began speaking to a woman that was there. What started as a bodega transformed into a brewery, and I spoke with the woman and helped her with some of her duties. We spoke about life, the business, and each other’s interests. With given time, I remembered her calling a man into the store and once he arrived, I felt an obligation to leave, without question or concern.
This is where my dream took an eerie shift. My dream transitioned from the establishment to me walking into a dark forest. The tall trees and dark skies consumed the forest and my vision, with dark blue clouds and deathly panorama. The emotion I was experiencing could have been comparable to a person waking through a cemetery, with fear and uncertainty. I did not know where I was or how I even got there; at this point my dream had taken a turn that was out of my control. Rainfall began to pour down from the clouds as I continued to walk and along this path that was leading me to nowhere, I found myself breathing heavily, and heard a noise above me. I couldn’t tell if it was a forest animal like a squirrel or a bird, but with branches being broken and leaves shuffling, I could comprehend that I wasn’t alone. As I looked up, I saw a pack of white wolves staring upon me with murky black eyes; I counted about five of the creatures. I gradually started to pick up the pace in my walk, hoping to evade them with no problem toward me, and without my realization I sighted dark figures closing in on me. I rubbed the raindrops of my eyes with the intent to see what these objects were and it developed into black wolves that were approaching me. With all the creatures that surrounded me, I counted about 15 wolves, and I was filled with terror. Reluctantly enough, they did not make any sudden movements, only when I began to walk faster. They followed my trail and increased their speed as I did, and I started to run, hoping to outrun the wolf pack that was in pursuit of me.
With no idea where I was running except to escape from the forest beasts, I accelerated into a different part of the forest, and ahead of me was a mountain. It was on top of a large hill, and I grasped the feeling that this was my only chance of escape. I was filled with adrenaline, breathing forcefully and I must’ve ran up the hill so fast that I outrun the group of wolves halfway up the mountain. Looking back I saw nothing, and I was nearly at the top of the mountain, and this is where my dream ended very suddenly. After doing some research about what symbolism wolves have, I learned a few things about their meanings in terms of dreaming about them. According to Debbie Edwards, writer of “Wolves in Dreams- Meanings and Interpretations,” she mentions that “a white wolf can represent someone or something that is directly influenced by spiritual communication or teachings. Someone that would be very knowledgeable or connected spiritually could be represented by a white wolf. It can also represent the purity of a message that is delivered by a spiritual presence.” In her article, she also makes reference to a black wolf “A black wolf can represent a more carnal nature or a situation that pertains to material and physical things. For example, some people will dream of wolves that represent the presence of specific people in their life.”
In regards to the white wolf, I find this very interesting only because I am what you would call a religious person but do believe that there is a God. Coming from a Roman Catholic background, I do believe in a Heaven and Hell, as well as God and the Devil. As far as a spiritual connection, maybe a supreme entity or entities was trying to connect to me through my dreams. Maybe they are symbolic to a group of people that I will meet the future that will try to influence me about the word of God, I have no idea. What I do know is that there is a connection that is trying to be matched, and I have to try to be open minded to what may come. As far as the black wolves, they can represent anyone. From a group of people I know that share a connection with each other, to people who are my friends but are secretly my enemies, to peers in the past that have unfinished business with me, the meaning can be perpetual. What I can perceive from my own thoughts of running from the creatures may indicate that I am afraid of what they may have in store whether it’s positive or negative.
Also, mountains in dreams have great symbolism as well. To see mountains in your dream signify many major obstacles and challenges that you have to overcome. If you are on top of the mountain, then it indicates that you have achieved and realized your goals. You have recognized your full potential. Alternatively, mountains denote a higher realm of consciousness, knowledge, and spiritual truth. To dream that you are climbing a mountain signifies your determination and ambition. That’s where I feel the mountain plays a role in my subconscious thoughts. I am a student striving to become a professional, involved with many activities that will benefit me in the future. I work two jobs that will ultimately create a strong consistent work ethic that will transport into any field that I enter. I also have thoughts of not doing enough to ensure the advancement of myself, which is metaphoric to me not reaching the top of the mountain. I will reach the top of the mountain one day, reaching most of my desires and fulfilling my goals. I just have to be strong and face any obstacles that will come across me and overcome them to the best of my ability.
